BH Properties Appoints Retail Expert Janel Jensen as Managing Director, Retail Properties

Industry Leader to Spearhead Retail Strategy from Seattle Office, Overseeing Landmark West Coast Assets Including Pacific Place, Anchorage Square, and Hazard Center

SEATTLE, WA – May 07, 2025 — BH Properties, a vertically integrated, value-add real estate investment firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of Janel Jensen as Managing Director, Retail Properties. Based out of the firm’s Seattle office, Jensen will lead the strategic leasing, merchandising, and positioning efforts for BH Properties’ growing portfolio of retail and mixed-use assets across the Pacific Northwest and West Coast. Jensen’s hire comes as the firm has grown its retail portfolio.

With more than a decade of experience shaping vibrant retail environments in both urban cores and suburban mixed-use developments, Jensen brings a depth of market knowledge and creative deal-making expertise to her new role. She will play a key leadership role in maximizing the potential of recent high-profile acquisitions, including Pacific Place in Seattle and Anchorage Square in San Francisco and Hazard Center in San Diego.

“Janel’s proven ability to activate and elevate retail experiences in complex, evolving markets makes her an ideal fit for BH Properties as we continue to expand our presence in the Pacific Northwest and beyond,” said Jim Brooks, President of BH Properties. “Her track record, strategic insight, and reputation for execution will be instrumental as we reposition iconic assets like Pacific Place and Anchorage Square.”

Prior to joining BH Properties, Jensen served as Director and Market Leader at Unico Properties, where she led the retail strategy for their entire portfolio of mixed-use projects. Her leadership during the pandemic and recovery period was key to successfully retaining and attracting a dynamic mix of local, regional, and national tenants. She also worked closely with asset managers, investors, and partners to guide leasing decisions and project marketing strategies.

Previously, as a Senior Associate at Real Retail, Jensen played a pivotal role in shaping Seattle’s retail landscape—most notably supporting the ground-floor merchandising and leasing of Amazon’s World Headquarters. She also supported the early growth of emerging brands, including the expansion of Evergreens Salad from a single location to a 12-store footprint across a competitive leasing market.

At BH Properties, Jensen will initially focus on enhancing tenant mix and elevating the consumer experience at Pacific Place, the 335,000-square-foot retail and entertainment destination in downtown Seattle, and Anchorage Square, a 2.6-acre mixed-use property in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, home to the city’s only In-N-Out Burger and 63,000 square feet of high-profile retail.

“I’m thrilled to join BH Properties at such a dynamic time,” said Jensen. “The opportunity to work on transformational retail projects like Pacific Place and Anchorage Square—and to do so with a nimble, entrepreneurial team—aligns perfectly with my passion for placemaking and long-term value creation.”

Headquartered in Los Angeles, with six regional offices, BH Properties has been ramping up its acquisition efforts , including its most recent 225,000 square-foot office acquisition in Hillsboro, Oregon, the 405,000-square-foot mixed-use Hazard Center in San Diego’s Mission Valley, the 335,000-square-foot Pacific Place shopping mall in downtown Seattle, and the historic 117,000-square-foot 989 Market Street office building in downtown San Francisco.
